Position: Operator Machining – Collins Aerospace, Leighton Buzzard (Bedfordshire)
We’re looking for an Operator Machining to join our team and play a key role in the production of high‑quality aircraft interior components. If you have a strong background in CNC machining, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for continuous improvement, we want you to be part of our innovative and growing company.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate CNC machinery to produce production runs of parts in accordance with a daily production plan.
* Perform self‑inspection of repeat work using the appropriate inspection equipment.
* Carry out regular Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on the machinery.
* Advise the Team Lead and production engineering team of production issues and defects.
* Support and participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives to increase production.
* Monitor and document operational performance and provide feedback to the Team Lead.
* Maintain effective working relationships with peers and support teams.
* Maintain quality standards through understanding of the quality management system.
* Adhere to all company EH&S and compliance guidelines.
* Maintain housekeeping, 5S and FOD rules, ensuring a best‑in‑class organized working environment.
Required Skills & Experience
* Previous machining background preferred.
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
* Experience with lean manufacturing techniques.
* Experience completing projects for process improvement.
Preferred Skills & Experience
* Metallurgy Knowledge – solid understanding of materials and their properties.
* CNC operating experience.
* Lean Manufacturing – familiarity with lean techniques to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
* Microsoft Office – good knowledge of Office tools for documentation and reporting.
* Process Improvement – experience leading or supporting improvement projects.
