We're looking for a Production Manager to support their exciting slate of films, growing in ambition each season.
Reporting into the Production Lead, the PM will be responsible for translating creative visions into a brilliantly executed production, responsible for the logistics and budgets for Ffern’s biggest shoots.
An essential part of the team, you’ll be critical in helping to pull off some of the most ambitious ideas to date – previous films include a windswept tale in the Isle of Skye with Ruth Wilson, Claire Foy’s depiction of becoming the land in Spring and a dance on wild ice in the Canadian Rockies.
This role needs someone who is detailed orientated, tenacious, exceptionally organised and a strong communicator. A Production Manager who is calm under pressure and able to find the solutions to problems.
What you'll do
Pre‑production:
* Creating and managing the budgets for Ffern’s seasonal films
* Identifying talented crew and cast to work across the film team’s slate
* Sourcing and permitting locations, working with Location Managers to find unique places to set our films
* Managing equipment hire / purchase, working with directors and cinematographers to identify the right gear that’s needed
* Supporting with talent/casting process, helping to create contracts for talent and manage their needs for the shoot
* Supporting Art Department / Costume Departments with their requirements and budgets
* Creating and negotiating contracts/fees with crew
* Working with insurance/legal experts to ensure productions are compliant
* Managing travel, visas and carnets
* Booking travel, accommodation, catering and other logistics for shoots
Production:
* Problem‑solving during shoots to ensure the smooth running of production
* Creating and sending out call‑sheets during production
* Creating movement orders, monitoring schedules during production and adjust as needed
* Managing crew/cast welfare on‑set
* Approve and monitor purchases, keeping budgets live and up‑to‑date
* Ensuring risk assessments and health and safety regulations are met on‑set
* Managing the development and shipping of 16mm / 35mm film
* Supporting talent needs on‑set
Wrap:
* Reconciliation of productions, accounting for all the spend and providing reports
* Ensuring all crew and cast are paid on‑time, approve invoices
* Support transition into post‑production
What we're looking for
Must have:
* 5‑10 years in film/TV/commercial production environments, as a production manager
* Exceptional organisational skills, strong instincts and ability to work well under pressure
* Knowledge of production workflows and processes
* Contacts with relevant suppliers and vendors covering production, e.g. rental houses, transport/vehicle suppliers, crew
* Experience creating contracts for crew and cast
* Experience handling health and safety, legal and insurance issues in relation to production
* Experience in negotiating rates and deals with suppliers
* Proven experience creating, managing, tracking and reconciling budgets
* Track record of creating schedules, call‑sheets and movement orders for productions
* Experience planning and producing international shoots
* Extensive experience on‑set, managing crews between 15‑60 people
