Purpose of the Role
As both a creative leader and hands‑on practitioner, the Creative Director will actively contribute to the development and execution of creative work across client projects. This role requires exceptional creative ability and extensive hands‑on experience producing high‑quality design across both print and digital environments.
This role leads the agency’s creative output across:
* Brand identity and visual systems
* Campaign creative
* Digital and UX design
* Motion and animation
* Social and performance creative
* Video and content production
The Creative Director will inspire the team, contribute to concept development, and ensure all work delivered by the agency demonstrates strategic thinking, originality and exceptional craft.
The role also plays a key part in new business, agency reputation and creative culture, positioning Carbon Creative as a trusted creative partner for ambitious organisations.

Key Responsibilities
Define and champion creative standards across the agency, ensuring work consistently demonstrates strong conceptual thinking, strategic rationale and exceptional craft.
Lead ideation and creative direction for key projects including brand development, campaigns and digital experiences.
Ensure all creative output reflects Carbon Creative’s values, positioning and commitment to high‑quality work.
Line manage and mentor the creative team including:
* Head of Brand
* Motion Designer
* Brand Designer
* Digital Designer (UX)
Create an environment that encourages experimentation, collaboration and continual development.
Run regular critique sessions, inspiration sessions and design reviews to maintain high standards of creative work.
Creative Direction & Hands‑On Delivery
Lead and contribute to creative work across all disciplines delivered by the agency, ensuring every project combines strong conceptual thinking with exceptional craft.
Provide creative direction across projects including brand identity, campaigns, digital experiences, motion, video and marketing content while remaining actively involved in the development and refinement of ideas.
Work collaboratively with designers and digital specialists to develop creative concepts and execute high‑quality work across multiple media formats including:
* Brand identity and visual systems
* Campaign creative
* Website and UX design
* Motion and animation
* Video and content production
* Social and paid media creative
While maintaining the ability to personally produce high‑quality creative work where appropriate.
Ensure all work delivered by the agency is cohesive, strategically aligned and reflects Carbon Creative’s standards for originality, effectiveness and design excellence.
The Creative Director will have the freedom to shape creative processes, critique standards and working methods to continually elevate the quality of the agency’s work.
Act as a trusted creative advisor to clients.
Lead creative presentations, workshops and concept development sessions.
Challenge briefs constructively to deliver stronger and more effective creative solutions.
Commercial Delivery
Collaborate with Account Management and Operations to ensure:
* Projects are scoped appropriately
* Work is delivered within agreed budgets
Maintain awareness of project profitability and resource planning.
Agency Growth & New Business
Play a leading role in new business opportunities including:
* Concept creation for proposals
* Presentation of creative ideas to prospective clients
Support the agency in building a reputation for bold and impactful creative work.
Sustainable Creative Practice
Champion responsible design and production approaches that align with Carbon Creative’s
Encourage sustainable thinking in creative processes where appropriate.
