About this opportunity: We’re looking for a senior product specialist with deep expertise in payments, open banking, and embedded payments using API. The Product Owner will lead the design, development, and management of embedded and electronic domestic payment products across our commercial banking portfolio.
You’ll provide strategic direction and people management to deliver faster, simpler, and reliable payment experiences, ensuring alignment with regulatory, risk, and commercial objectives. This highly collaborative role sits within the Payments Product team in Business Transaction Banking, working closely with Platform, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and Client Coverage to ensure propositions are robust, well-governed, and commercially effective.
Key Accountabilities:
* Define and deliver the electronic and embedded payments roadmap aligned to strategic objectives.
* Lead the end‑to‑end lifecycle of propositions, balancing innovation, governance, and commercial return.
* Engage with third‑party ecosystem players to identify integration opportunities into clients’ operating environments.
* Manage and develop a team of product managers, fostering capability growth and performance excellence.
* Drive growth by embedding products into third‑party platforms across priority sectors.
* Partner with Platform and Operations teams to deliver high‑quality APIs and integration journeys.
* Maintain strong compliance and risk management; contribute to policy and control frameworks.
* Support client‑facing materials and engagements to drive acquisition and expansion.
* Act as a subject‑matter expert internally and externally, influencing strategy and industry dialogue.
* Measure and improve client experience using feedback and performance data.
What You’ll Need:
* Proven experience managing complex payment or API‑based products in a large financial institution.
* Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into delivery across cross‑functional teams.
* Solid understanding of commercial banking client needs, particularly SME and mid‑corporate segments, and experience working with business lines supporting retail & CIB clients.
* Excellent partner management, influencing, and communication skills across senior audiences.
* Deep knowledge of payment regulation, operational risk, and governance frameworks.
* Passion for innovation and client‑centred design, with an ability to simplify complexity.
