Intervention Worker – Serious Youth Violence Targeted Intervention Team
Birmingham Children’s Trust invites applications for an Intervention Worker who will work within the Serious Youth Violence Targeted Intervention Team to support children, families, and communities impacted by gang‐related violence.
Responsibilities
* Respond to critical incidents and “reachable moments” to prevent escalation and support recovery.
* Deliver trauma‑informed interventions in communities affected by serious youth violence.
* Build trusted relationships with young people and families to foster resilience, aspiration, and safety.
* Collaborate with schools, police, youth services, and community organisations to create safer environments.
* Lead and support sessional workers and volunteers in delivering impactful engagement.
* Attend vigils, funerals, and community events to prevent further violence and support healing.
* Plan daily activities, safeguard children and young people (CYP) by developing bespoke intervention plans.
* Work as part of a multi‑agency team to safeguard the wider public.
Qualifications
* Education to Level 6 or equivalent, or demonstrable experience applying knowledge in practice.
* Proven experience working with young people affected by serious youth violence, gangs, or exploitation.
* Ability to lead initiatives and respond effectively in high‑pressure situations.
* Strong skills in risk assessment, intelligence gathering, and multi‑agency collaboration.
* A systemic, child‑first approach to engagement and intervention.
* Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and anti‑oppressive practice.
* Willingness to work evenings and weekends as part of a rota.

This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham. Applicants must reside within a suitable commutable distance and possess the right‑to‑work documents to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not supported.
