Job overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Core Trainee (Year 3) equivalent Doctor to join our excellent Trauma & Orthopaedics Department here at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
The post is available Fixed Term for 12 months from 04.02.2026 until 02.02.2027
This post is to support the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department in delivering the best clinical care for our patients at a CT equivalent level. This post includes providing full on-call provisions.
This post is an essential part of our elective recovery plans and will support our consultant orthopaedic team.
Candidates must have a full GMC registration with 'Licence to Practice in the UK'.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be part of a 12 person on call team based at Stoke Mandeville. No cross-cover is required.
Supervision levels are high the successful candidate will have close contact with the on-call registrar and consultant seven days a week.
There are 6 FY1s and 6 FY2s on our Trauma Wards, with high-level orthogeriatric input as well as support from Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Fracture Trauma Coordinators.
Stoke Mandeville has a busy Trauma Unit and has support of an embedded orthogeriatric team. Elective operating is at Wycombe Hospital with protected beds.
There is a busy teaching programme throughout the week, regular governance meetings and audit presentations every month.
We offer regular junior teaching throughout the week, the successful appointee will be allocated separate clinical and educational supervisors for the duration of their post.
Audit and quality improvement projects are strongly supported, and we have a dynamic group of consultants. Although we have Specialist Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeons this post does not involve cover for the National Spinal Injuries Unit (NSIC).

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
 * MBBS or Equivalent
