Well-regarded Planning department of this commercial law firm in London is seeking to recruit a Planning lawyer of 3 or more years’ PQE. The team is highly ranked in the directories and advises on some of the UK’s most iconic developments. Whether it is offshore wind farms located 40 kilometres out to sea, major residential schemes including garden villages and regeneration, new rail and road projects, airport developments, or waste and mineral projects, the team are instructed on all of them. They offer clients a full-spectrum of expertise and handle a range of complex mandates in the residential, commercial & infrastructure, and environmental & waste sectors, as well as contentious work in Judicial Review and Lands Chamber proceedings. Due to the increase in client instructions and the variety and complexity of the projects they are working on, this role needs strong experience in planning, infrastructure and environmental work as well as a genuine enthusiasm to develop and grow the team. You can expect your caseload to include: • large scale development consent orders • compulsory acquisitions • giving strategic planning advice • reviewing environmental statements • assisting with project management and supporting the firm’s national real estate practice.
There has been a significant increase in the work they undertake for major infrastructure providers and would like to hear from you if you have both the knowledge in, and enthusiasm for this area of work. To be considered for this role you'll need to have: • knowledge of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (some knowledge of the Planning Act 2008 would be desirable) • experience of planning agreements • experience of highway agreements • ability to handle inquiries/examinations and judicial reviews relating to planning matters • knowledge and experience of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) • experience of managing & supervising more junior members of the team.
