Position Overview The role of Group Accountant – Technical Advisory will report to the Head of Financial Controls & Reporting and will be part of a team of adept, qualified accountants responsible for reporting on the group's financial performance and ensuring the financial integrity of the business. As Group Accountant – Technical Advisory, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to the business, focusing on critical projects related to M&A and emerging technical accounting standards. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in the group reporting process, particularly during key financial calendar milestones such as quarter-end, half-year, and year-end. You will be involved in but not limited to the following duties: Crafting and reviewing the Group's statutory reports, ensuring adherence to IFRS standards through updating reporting templates and scrutinizing disclosures. Supporting the Group audit process by preparing necessary audit materials and collaborating with the external audit team. Facilitating communication with external auditors to elucidate complex accounting policies and revisions, seeking approval for proposed interpretations and treatments. Conducting research and offering guidance on the interpretation and implementation of new regulatory and reporting standards. Assessing the impact of new business transactions on compliance with IFRS, providing accounting advice to various finance and operational teams. Taking the lead on purchase price allocation (PPA) projects in collaboration with external advisors, ensuring accurate journal entries and audit disclosures. Preparing calculations for the Group's management incentive plans in accordance with IFRS 2. Overseeing the application of the Group's hedge accounting policy to ensure compliance with IFRS standards. Drafting technical accounting policy papers. Contributing to the quarterly Group Finance report for the Audit Committee. Generating key analyses on profitability and margins for the Group. Supporting the broader group finance team in achieving its objectives, including engaging in ad-hoc projects and delivering timely financial information for strategic decision-making. Person Profile To be considered for the Group Accountant – Technical Advisory position, you must: Be a qualified accountant with post qualified experience in technical or reporting roles in practice or industry Have strong knowledge of IFRS (knowledge of US GAAP would be advantageous) Have previous experience in audit (desirable) Have excellent communication skills and an ability to partner with senior stakeholders (non-finance or finance) Have experience of working within regulated industries such as financial services (desirable) Salary, Benefits & Location The Group Accountant – Technical Advisory position is offering the following package: £65,000 - £75,000 per annum Discretionary bonus Employee share scheme (minimum 1 years’ service) Generous holiday allowance Generous employee pension scheme Private medical Enhanced Maternity & Paternity leave (more info available on request) Other benefits available on request The office is located in Edinburgh City Centre and is easily accessible via all forms of public transport.
