Job Description
It’s a fantastic time to work for the Environment Agency as we step forward to tackle the climate emergency. As a member of the FCRM Improvements Portfolio team you will support the Portfolio Management office and the sub‑portfolio’s project and programme work, delivering over £150m of improvements across the next three years. Your role will be critical to improving how we plan and execute changes, enabling us to protect communities and businesses from the impacts of flooding.
Responsibilities
• Start up and inform new projects, supporting live projects and our project managers.
• Build relationships with the Portfolio Management Office and embed portfolio management and data practices.
• Participate in incident roles (typically virtual) and provide business continuity during incidents, with full training and potential additional pay.
• Support data analytics initiatives across the portfolio, including large‑dataset handling and reporting.
Qualifications
* Formal project / programme management experience is essential.
* Highly numerate with strong data gathering, manipulation and interpretation skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required and experience with Power BI, Tableau or similar is desirable.
* Experience in a project support role in a complex organisation using both Agile and waterfall methodologies.
* Administrative and organisational skills, including supporting governance meetings, agendas and minutes.
* Financial data management and project planning skills are desirable.
* Ability to gain credibility, respect and cooperation by demonstrating collaborative behaviours.
* Experience in tackling and automating routine issues with a continuous‑improvement mindset.
* Capacity to work with uncertainty and devise innovative solutions.
Working Arrangements
The role offers flexible, blended home/office working. Some travel and overnight stays will be required. The team is dispersed across the country and work can be based at an Environment Agency office, subject to facilities approval.
