We are currently recruiting for an experienced senior nurse to join our established Inpatient Adult Care team.
Role Overview
You will act as a Sister/Charge Nurse, managing and leading the inpatient unit during your scheduled shifts. You will be pivotal in delivering exceptional care to our patients and families.
This role consists of two 12.5-hour shifts per week, including a mix of day, night, and weekend shifts on a rostered basis.
Key Responsibilities
1. Formulate plans for patient care, manage frequent changes, and lead the shift as the nurse in charge.
2. Delegate workload to staff, ensure nursing care is delivered to the highest standard, and reflects patient needs.
3. Manage and lead the inpatient team, promoting a positive and inclusive organisational culture.
4. Conduct holistic nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans.
5. Include family and/or carers in guiding care where appropriate, ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
6. Assess and interpret patient conditions, liaising with primary and secondary care professionals as needed.
7. Adhere to medicines management policies and act as an advocate for patients, children, and young people.
8. Support families and carers before and after a patient's death, involving other agencies when necessary.
9. Lead communication efforts with distressed patients and relatives, providing supervision and support to the team.
10. Assist medical staff with patient discussions and care management, including chaperoning.
11. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate specialist palliative clinical care.
12. Participate in staff education and mentor students on clinical placements.
13. Support community hospice services and Rads patients as part of the team.
14. Make responsible decisions, justify actions, and escalate concerns appropriately.
15. Participate in complex moving and handling scenarios with specialized equipment.
16. Maintain contemporaneous patient records and act up in the absence of the Ward Manager.
