Health Care Support Worker - Ophthalmology
An opportunity has become available for a Band 3 Health Care Support Workers to support the existing Multidisciplinary team in Ophthalmology outpatients with rotation to Ophthalmology theatres, as you build and develop competencies within the dept.
Car driver essential as we cover community clinics and work off site in the community hospital settings – Leominster, Bromyard and Ross.
Main duties of the job
The HCSW role within Ophthalmology will involve care of patients whilst they attend ophthalmology outpatients, eye casualty, day case and theatres.
The role supports the multidisciplinary team by obtaining a variety of ophthalmology specialised observations, patient observations, whilst supporting the through-put of patients in a variety of areas.
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* A minimum Maths and English GCSE grades 3‑9 or grades A,B,C,D or equivalent Functional Skills qualifications
* Willingness to undertake the Maths and English Functional Skills qualifications
* Diploma level 2/3 in Health & Social Care
* Care certificate
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
* Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
* Knowledge of personal care and related procedures
* Knowledge of administrative and demonstrable organisation skills
Experience
* Working with people
* Previous experience in ophthalmology outpatient & theatres
