What you will do
- Undertake comprehensive pre-birth assessments where concerns exist regarding parental capacity, safeguarding risks, substance misuse, domestic abuse, mental health, or previous child protection history
- Develop and implement pre-birth plans, ensuring timely assessment of risk and identification of protective factors for unborn children
- Lead safeguarding activity, including strategy discussions, Child in Need meetings, Child Protection Conferences, and legal planning processes where required
- Work directly with expectant parents and wider family networks to assess parenting capacity and support positive change prior to birth

Qualifications
- Degree in Social Work (BA/MA or equivalent)
- Completion of ASYE and experience within statutory children’s social care
Registration & Compliance
- Registered with Social Work England
- Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and child protection procedures
- Understanding of Public Law Outline (PLO), Family Court processes, and pre-birth assessment frameworks
- Knowledge of domestic abuse, parental mental health, substance misuse, and their impact on child development and safeguarding outcomes
