Financial Controls & Systems LeadLocation: Liverpool (Hybrid Working)Salary: £57,500 - £65,000An established and growing organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Controls & Systems Lead to strengthen and modernise its finance control environment. This is a high-profile role for a qualified accountant who has a track record of implementing finance systems, designing robust workflows, and embedding strong financial control and compliance frameworks across complex organisations.This role offers real influence, working closely with senior finance leaders and stakeholders to ensure financial integrity, effective governance and continuous improvement.The RoleReporting into senior finance leadership, you will act as the central owner of financial control and risk across the organisation. You will ensure that financial processes, systems and workflows are well designed, consistently applied and compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements.Key responsibilities include:Leading the design, implementation and ongoing improvement of finance control frameworks, policies and proceduresEnsuring accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting and accounting controlsOverseeing statutory, regulatory and tax compliance, including fraud prevention and risk managementOwning the finance risk register and driving mitigation actionsSupporting the implementation and optimisation of finance systems and payment platforms, ensuring controls are embedded at system and workflow levelDesigning and embedding effective treasury and payment controls, including banking access and mandatesPartnering with finance operations teams to improve transactional workflows, efficiency and consistencySupporting contract implementation and organisational change from a finance controls perspectiveActing as a key contact for internal and external audit, ensuring issues are resolved effectivelyProviding guidance, training and challenge to senior stakeholders across the businessAbout YouYou will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong experience in financial control, governance or financial reporting within a complex or multi-entity environment.You will bring:Proven experience implementing or improving finance systems, workflows and control environmentsStrong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of statutory and regulatory complianceExperience embedding controls across finance operations and transactional processesThe confidence to influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructivelyExcellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial information clearlyA proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and control excellenceWhy Apply?This is an opportunity to step into a critical leadership role where you can genuinely shape financial control standards, systems and ways of working.
