About the Candidate

You will be a key member of a collaborative team that focusses on providing excellent learner experiences through the quality of our teaching, learning and assessment. The successful candidate will have a passion for counselling and a keen desire to deliver key concepts innovatively to inspire our learners to have lifelong careers in this growing sector. The candidate should also be willing to work evenings if required.

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a counselling professional to join our ambitious department at Sunderland College. The successful candidate will work in a thriving Education, Children and Families team, which currently delivers a curriculum spanning Level 2 to HE and includes adult and HE Counselling programmes.

This is an exciting time for the team with planned growth and we are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic counselling practitioner with excellent pedagogical skills and industry knowledge or experience. We would also welcome applications from innovative practitioners who have industry experience, who aspire to move into teaching.

Role Responsibilities

* Planning and preparation of high quality, sequenced learning through career focused schemes of learning, session planning and resources
* Assist with the creation of high-quality digital learning platforms and resources developing the digital literacy and future-readiness of students.
* To provide an excellent experience to students through exemplary learning, teaching and standards of assessment.
* Teach students to high standards using appropriate and varied student-centred approaches, embracing learning technologies to enhance the student experience.
* Develop and share subject pedagogy within and across teams to maintain currency and accuracy.
* Actively engage in reflective practice and contributing to the wider Professional Development programme.
* Preparation of effective formative and summative assessments to meet awarding organisation standards and student needs.
* Participate in the College`s quality assurance, quality enhancement and quality improvement processes.

Qualifications

* Appropriate level Counselling qualification to teach adult and HE programmes
* Teacher qualification at Level 5 or commitment to work towards and enrol within the first year of employment and achieve the qualification
* Level 2 Maths and English qualification

Essential Skills & Experience

* Relevant industry experience in counselling practice
* Successful experience of delivering high quality teaching / training
* Experience of effective and innovative use of ILT and digital technology
* Relevant practical experience in appropriate industry or profession.
