Progress Teachers are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Specialist to support children with complex social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and a range of special educational needs (SEN). This is a highly rewarding role where you'll make a real difference by helping young people build positive behaviours, resilience and confidence through tailored, child-centred support.
You will work closely with pupils, families and multi‑agency professionals to design, deliver and review personalised behaviour support plans that create calmer, safer and more supportive learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, deliver and regularly review individual behaviour support and intervention plans
* Use positive behaviour strategies, de‑escalation and redirection techniques when needed
* Support children with daily routines in a safe, structured and nurturing environment
* Work collaboratively with families, school staff and external professionals
* Monitor, track and evaluate progress, adapting strategies to meet individual needs
* Support pupils during learning activities, play‑based sessions and social development
* Maintain accurate, timely records including progress notes and behaviour data
* Promote consistent, proactive approaches to behaviour across settings
3>Skills & Requirements
* Previous experience supporting children, particularly those with autism and/or SEN
* Strong knowledge of behaviour support and positive behaviour management strategies
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
* A calm, patient and adaptable approach to working with children
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
* Strong organisation skills and confidence in maintaining accurate documentation
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
* Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in Supporting Teaching & Learning or a related field
