An opportunity has arisen for a River Temperature and Groundwater Officer based in our Lincolnshire & Northamptonshire Hydrometry & Telemetry (H&T) team, providing support to the Natural Capital Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) project. We are looking for an individual with an understanding of the H&T network to assist in the planning, delivery process and installation of monitoring equipment across Lincolnshire & Northamptonshire.

You may be required to travel outside this area as part of this role to support the roll out across England.

Key tasks will include:

Assessment of hydrometric site suitability for sensor installation following NCEA programme guidance.
Develop specifications of work and overseeing installation by internal/external contractors.
Undertake routine maintenance and calibration of river temperature sensors.
This role is a combination of field and office work therefore you must have a willingness to work outside, often in demanding weather conditions, all year round.

The team

You will join our highly motivated Hydrometry & Telemetry Team covering Lincolnshire & Northamptonshire. We install, operate and monitor hydrometric assets to ensure high quality data is always available for our customers.

In addition to local area colleagues, you will be working alongside national team members within the NCEA Network to help plan, install and deliver site upgrades required to complete the project.

Experience/skills Required

We are seeking someone with technical expertise in hydrometry to support the NCEA programme, who enjoys working with others and has good influencing skills.

You will need to plan and schedule your own work and occasionally that of other team members and contractors. You will contribute to the design and installation of groundwater and river temperature monitoring sites.

Essential skills:

The ability to safely use hand and power tools to assist the installation of equipment.
Planning and implementation of a programme of works.
Willingness to work outside often in demanding weather conditions, all year round.
Confidence working in and near water.
Confidence driving in all weather conditions and to remote locations.
Full UK driving licence.

Contact and additional information

You can be based at either Ceres House Lincoln, Quay House Peterborough or Nene House Kettering. It is a hybrid role with a mix of office, home and site working, requiring travel across Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.

A suitable vehicle will be made available to the successful candidate to enable site visits.
