We are looking for someone to join us as a Stories & Content Officer, helping us to put people with lived experience at the heart of all of our communications activities here at Mencap. This role is a fixed term contract until March 2027, on a full time 37.5 hours (per week) basis.
There will be travel required with this role, you will be proactively finding and following up on leads of people with a learning disability and those close to them, capturing their experiences. Using your journalistic skills to capture elements of their stories to raise awareness of learning disability and showing the impact of Mencap's work.

Not only will you be working amongst a team of enthusiastic and committed communicators to educate the public about life with a learning disability to influence relevant policy decisions, but you'll be speaking to people with a learning disability and bringing their stories to life.
What will you bring?
* Experience of interviewing and communicating individuals personal stories.
* Proficient in basic video editing and subtitling, using tools like Kapwing and Adobe Premiere.
* Identify and craft compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
* Some prior experience working with people with learning disabilities and/or additional needs (desirable).
