Maintenance Technicians are required to join a fast-paced department in Solihull.
Our client is a world-leading automotive manufacturer of prestige and high-value motor vehicles. With a rich heritage and exciting future, they operate two of the world’s most iconic brands, continually pushing innovation and setting industry standards.
They are currently recruiting experienced Maintenance Technicians for their Solihull facility. The role is initially on a 3-month contract, with potential to extend to 12 months or become permanent for suitable candidates.
This multi-skilled position offers the opportunity to join a highly skilled, dynamic maintenance team. The manufacturing assets include modern technologies such as automated robots, welding and joining equipment, laser systems, conveyors, and complex tooling.
Your responsibilities include maintaining manufacturing assets, maximizing production efficiency, diagnosing faults, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
The Maintenance Technician Role
1. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as scheduled
2. Diagnose and rectify faults on plant and equipment
3. Identify root causes to improve asset reliability
4. Respond promptly to plant breakdowns, adhering to procedures
5. Support Kaizen activities and workplace organization (5S)
6. Utilize lean manufacturing techniques for process improvements
7. Manage process modifications and update documentation
8. Provide technical support for problem-solving activities
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* Recognized apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in engineering maintenance
* Strong electrical and mechanical skills
* Experience in fault diagnosis and maintenance in an industrial setting
* Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
* Excellent analytical and organizational skills
* Flexible team player with a proactive attitude
* Able to work on a rotational shift pattern
Desirable Skills
* Experience with automation, robotics, welding, conveyors, and mechanical systems
* Knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs and control systems
* Experience with ABB robots and lean manufacturing methodologies
* Familiarity with CMMS platforms and PUWER regulations
* Experience in high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environments, ideally in automotive sector
Working Hours
37 hours/week, rotating shifts (Mornings, Afternoons, Days) or 3-shift pattern, with overtime opportunities.
