Overview
This post holder will provide Consultant Psychiatry input and clinical leadership into the 2 Community Eating Disorders Hubs. The South Hub multidisciplinary team encompasses Stockport, Tameside & Glossop. The North Hub multidisciplinary team encompasses Bury, Oldham and Rochdale metropolitan boroughs. This is a full time (10 PA) post with 5 programmed activities devoted to each CEDS team. Pennine CEDS provides a comprehensive community service to young people up to their 18th birthday, resident in the identified Boroughs of the Trust footprint, with significant Eating disorders.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Community Eating Disorders team in providing emergency, urgent and routine multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment plans for young people with significant Eating disorders.
* Assume consultant clinical responsibility for young people receiving psychiatry input and support consultation and liaison with other professionals.
* Adhere to policies and procedures to support the caseload, maintaining clinical records, confidentiality and administration.
* Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide strong clinical leadership to the CEDS team.
* Participate in reviews, CPA, referral and step-down planning; ensure effective referrer engagement and professional liaison with Paediatrics/Physical health teams, social care and education.
* Utilise the Care Programme Approach and the MHA/Children Act/Mental Capacity Act when required; work in partnership with other professionals/agencies across boundaries.
* Provide appropriate clinical supervision to the CEDS MDT and offer consultation to referring professionals.
* Lead development of evidence-based practice, practice development and teaching within Adolescent Psychiatry; contribute to service development and pathways management into and out of the service.
* Engage in safeguarding and governance activities: safeguarding children, governance meetings, compliance with Trust, CQC and DoH standards, and contribute to audit.
* Engage with management tasks within the CAMHS Clinical Business Unit and with network partners to support service review and development; participate in strategic managerial tasks as appropriate.
* Participate in training, teaching and supervision; support accreditation as an educational supervisor where applicable.
* On a practical level, work with on-call arrangements as described for CAMHS and adult interfaces where relevant; negotiate post recruitment where applicable.
On-Call Responsibilities
* CAMHS Out of hours on call is provided through a borough-based Psychiatric CT on call and CAMHS ST4-ST6 coverage to the Trust level for emergencies involving young people up to 16th birthday within the community and CAMHS Inpatients (1 in 16 Trust-wide rota).
* For young adults aged 16-17 referred out of hours for Tier 4 inpatient care, there is a joint consultation arrangement with on-call Adult CAMHS staff; for patients aged 16 and over, on call is provided by the Adult on-call service with borough-based arrangements.
* The successful applicant will join the Trust Child & Adolescent Consultant Psychiatry on-call rota if CAMHS CCT trained, or suitable Adult on-call rota if adult-trained; additional remuneration may apply for on-call availability.
Teaching, Audit & Governance
* Participate in teaching and supervision; support training and education within the Trust’s post-graduate and higher specialty training framework.
* Participate in clinical audits and governance activities; contribute to learning from incidents or complaints and ensure compliance with governance arrangements.

* We are an approved sponsoring organisation; sponsorship eligibility will be reviewed per government guidance. Pre-employment checks will include identity, right to work, DBS/ criminal record checks (where applicable), professional registrations, occupational health assessment, and employment references.
* External applicants will provide HMRC employment history for the previous three years as part of checks. Start dates and onboarding will follow Trust procedures and require attendance at a Welcome Session and acceptance of Pennine Care NHS terms and conditions.
