Payment Operations Analyst Specialist – APP Fraud & Collateral

Full-time

In office 4 days/week

* Do you have experience investigating payment fraud and managing collateral?
* Are you passionate about safeguarding assets and improving payment processes?
* Do you want to develop your expertise in embedded payments and financial risk management?

If so, we would love to hear from you!

Who We Are

Our vision is a world where all businesses are powered by embedded payments. Modulr enables businesses, from SMEs to Enterprise, initially across the UK and Europe, to efficiently pay-in, collect and disburse funds instantly via a range of payment schemes, accounts, and card products. Find out more about us on our website and careers site.

What You’ll Do

* Support the resolution of Authorised Push Payment (APP) fraud cases, collaborating with internal teams, partners, and UK PSPs to ensure efficient case handling and compliance.
* Monitor collateral accounts and limits across products (APP fraud, Cards, Direct Debits), raising requests with partners where coverage is insufficient.
* Conduct annual reviews of partner collateral positions, assessing adequacy based on historical data, fraud trends, and Direct Debit performance.
* Perform daily reconciliations of fraud‑related collateral accounts, identifying discrepancies, raising eligible chargebacks, and reporting findings.
* Manage and execute the repatriation of recovered funds to victims, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
* Support the development and delivery of management information (MI) and reporting related to APP collateral management, providing data‑driven insights.

Who You Are

What you’ll need:

* A curious mindset and drive to explore how AI and data can enhance operational efficiency.
* Experience in payments investigations, APP fraud detection, reconciliations, or treasury operations.
* Knowledge of UK and/or international payment schemes (e.g., Faster Payments, BACS, CHAPS, SEPA, SWIFT) and fraud risk management.
* Awareness of financial regulations and reporting requirements, especially relating to fraud and collateral.

Nice to haves:

* Experience investigating payment failures, exceptions, and fraud incidents.
* Proactive approach to leveraging emerging technologies for process improvement.
* Excellent Excel skills for analysis and reporting.

What We Offer You

* Share Options: Company Share Option Plan (CSOP) – benefit from any increase in share value in the event of a sale, merger, or flotation.
* Bonus: Annual discretionary bonus, paid in May for the previous year, based on company and individual performance.
* Flexible benefits: £1,000 to spend on benefits to suit you, including private medical insurance, gym membership, dental etc.
* Wellbeing app: Confidential, on-demand access to therapy, coaching, counselling, management training or mindfulness sessions with accredited professionals.
* Holidays: 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays) plus your birthday off. In the UK, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day are fixed holidays; you can choose the remaining days.
* Learning opportunities: Two‑day onboarding programme, ModStart, plus ongoing development support.
* Company‑wide events: Participate in collaborative and engaging events with colleagues across the business.
* Bike to work / E‑bike scheme
