Join to apply for the Mental Health Law Practitioner role at Cygnet.
The service supports adults across three wards to move as quickly and safely as possible to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment for them. You will be based at Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital, our emergency mental health hospital for men in Coventry.
You will be working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Your day-to-day responsibilities focus on ensuring legal compliance with the Mental Health Act 1983 and supporting the MHA Team in administrative and clinical duties.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for maintaining accurate records for all detained clients to a high standard.
* Provide specialist knowledge and skills to the Management Team and Clinical staff in the areas of legislative requirements as per the Mental Health Act.
* Scrutinise section papers and check that relevant paperwork is present and correct – report to the MHA Lead any areas which require amendment.
* Ensure that diaries and spreadsheets are updated with listings of hearings.
* Notify all parties concerned regarding report deadlines and dates of hearings.
* Chase up reports for all Tribunal and Managers Hearings.
* Contact Hospital Managers and arrange their attendance at Hearings.
* Assist the Tribunal Clerk when required to ensure room setup, paperwork availability and liaison with the Tribunal panel.
* Data input of Section within the Mental Health Act spreadsheet.
* Complete Mental Health Act Audits using Corporate Template for All Wards.
* Liaise with external Agencies & the Multi-disciplinary Team within the Hospital setting.
We Are Looking For People Who Have
* Previous administration experience including report preparation, organising meetings, liaising with customers/clients.
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) with qualifications in English and Maths.
* Exceptional organisational skills.
* Experience of working in a Healthcare environment alongside medical practitioners is desirable.
* Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983 (MHA 1983) is desirable.
* Knowledge of compliance and auditing systems required by regulatory bodies (CQC) is desirable.
