As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the transfer agency team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you will be responsible for developing critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions to support the firm’s objectives.
Job responsibilities
1. Execute creative software solutions, design, develop, and troubleshoot technical issues, thinking beyond routine approaches to build solutions or resolve problems.
2. Develop secure, high-quality production code, review, and debug code written by others.
3. Identify opportunities to automate or eliminate recurring issues to improve operational stability of software applications and systems.
4. Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability within existing systems.
5. Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and adoption of new, leading-edge technologies.
6. Contribute to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
1. Formal training or certification in relevant IT concepts and advanced practical experience.
2. Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
3. Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Java.
4. Experience with automation and continuous delivery methods.
5. Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
6. Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
7. Proficiency in software applications and technical processes within specific disciplines (e.g., cloud, AI, machine learning, mobile).
8. In-depth industry knowledge of financial services and their IT systems.
9. Practical experience with cloud-native development.
