The Opportunity
As we move into AMP 8 and continue with our growth plans across the UK & Ireland, we're interested in hearing expressions of interest from Heritage Consultants seeking their next career opportunity in the coming weeks and months.
Stantec UK is looking for an Archaeology and Heritage Consultant to join our team in Reading or Bristol offices (other southern England offices may also be considered). The role involves delivering technical advice and reports, focusing on water, highways, and infrastructure clients.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a global sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consultancy expanding in the UK. You will work within professional, collaborative, and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality historic environment consultancy advice and technical documents for schemes of various sizes.
As an Archaeology and Heritage Consultant, you will provide advice, risk analysis, and research for schemes requiring planning consent or permitted development. Responsibilities include guiding clients and colleagues, preparing technical documents such as Screenings, Technical Advice Notes, Desk-Based Assessments, Setting Assessments, and Environmental Impact Assessments. Tasks involve reviewing HER data, digital datasets, preparing figures, site walkovers, archive visits, reviewing aerial photographs and LiDAR, and report writing.
Under senior guidance, you will also consult with stakeholders to discuss evaluation and mitigation strategies and manage archaeological fieldwork with subcontractors.
About You
You will be a highly motivated individual passionate about Britain's archaeology and heritage, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation, planning policy, and guidance.
You should have several years of professional consultancy experience, excellent report-writing skills, and ideally GIS experience. Archaeological fieldwork experience and membership at the Associate level or above with CIfA are required. A complete, clean UK driving license is essential.
