This is a rare opportunity to increase and develop your skills and knowledge in Endocrinology. Due to maternity leave, we have a fixed-term 9-month opportunity for an Endocrine Nurse Specialist.
Do you want a challenge and an opportunity to learn about endocrine disorders? You will develop skills in managing your own clinic lists and monitoring patients, supporting the multidisciplinary team to provide a patient-centred, high-standard service.
Work with the team to support patients through their health journey. Prepare clinics for medication dosing, learning how to adjust doses of Carbimazole, Propylthiouracil, and Levothyroxine. Consent patients and explain endocrine tests to support diagnosis. Undertake tests and develop skills in interpreting results. Educate patients on managing sick day rules and injecting hydrocortisone.

Responsibilities include reviewing clinic notes, ensuring proper medication dosing for telephone clinics, managing your own patient list through face-to-face and telephone consultations, educating patients on disease management and self-administration of injections, supporting helpline patients, working with advanced nurse practitioners to develop the service, undertaking investigative tests and interpreting results, and attending governance and education sessions.
