Role:
Our client is looking for a proactive and organised Design Manager in delivering coordinated, buildable, and compliant design information across multiple project stages.
Working within a main contractor environment, you'll be managing the design process from pre-construction through delivery-liaising with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure all design outputs meet programme, quality, and commercial objectives.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to learn the end-to-end contractor-side design management process, develop technical understanding, and gain hands-on project coordination experience.
Responsibilities:
1. Management and delivery of design information
2. Ensuring that our appointed design consultants carry out their duties in line with their appointment
3. Design input at both preconstruction and construction stage of projects
4. Assessing, mitigating and managing risks connected with design, ensuring designs meet health and safety legislation, sustainable building standards such as BREEAM and industry codes of practice
5. The production of design programmes, design scopes, design responsibility matrices, appointments, schedules
6. Record progress and reporting
7. Attending/chair necessary meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders
8. Ensuring that the design is compliant to relevant legislation and technical requirements
The Role:
9. Previous experience in a Design Manager role within a Principal contractor environment involved in medium to large scale construction projects
10. Relevant construction qualifications, Degree/HND or equivalent in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture etc
