Senior Substance Misuse Recovery Worker (HMP Whatton)
Overview
We are looking for a Senior Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our healthcare team at HMP Whatton. The role involves delivering outstanding substance misuse care and supporting the multidisciplinary team within a secure environment.
Hours & Salary
* Monday – Friday: core office hours
* Salary: up to £45,000 per annum (full‑time)

Responsibilities
* Collaborate with team members to assess patient needs and risks
* Provide management and supervision to junior Substance Misuse Recovery Workers
* Deliver evidence‑based care to a caseload of psychosocial patients, incorporating their feedback to personalise care
* Provide psychosocial interventions and information on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood borne viruses, and safe sex practices
* Deliver non‑judgemental care one‑to‑one and in group settings, supporting nursing and pharmacy teams in primary care within healthcare centres and on wings and house blocks
* Adhere to the HiJ competency framework, policies, procedures, and safeguarding requirements

Qualifications & Experience
* Evidence of CPD
* Relevant degree/qualification or equivalent experience
* SMART Recovery experience or completed training
* Knowledge and experience in structured psychosocial interventions
* Experience working within the substance misuse multidisciplinary framework (housing, social care, healthcare, mental health pathways)
* A non‑judgemental and compassionate approach
* Excellent communication skills
