Join Thames Water as an Electrical Engineer Apprentice, gaining hands-on experience diagnosing and fixing electrical issues, learning innovative technologies, and working towards a Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician qualification for a long-term career.
What you’ll be doing as an Electrical Engineer Apprentice:
1. Helping to find faults and find ways to fix all our electrical issues we have on our sites.
2. Working on electrical equipment which monitors and controls all aspects of Thames Water’s water and wastewater processes, and how they’re performing across the network.
3. During the apprenticeship you’ll become qualified to carry out planned preventative and general maintenance of equipment
4. Modifying and rewiring
5. Testing, and inspecting, condition-based monitoring and fault finding within our systems.
Where you’ll work:
Location: Vale West based out of Swindon STW SN2 2DJ
Hours: 38-hour week over four working days plus one training day, with a 7:30am start
Start date: September 2026
Training and qualification: You’ll study with Basingstoke College of Technology, one of the UK’s leading engineering training providers. Training is delivered through on-campus sessions or block release, with some elements online. Travel and accommodation costs are supported in line with our business expense policy
Qualification achieved: Engineering maintenance technician - Level 3 City & Guilds Diploma in Engineering (single discipline)
Duration: Permanent contract with a 36 month structured programme
What you should bring to the role:
6. GCSE English and Maths (grade 9-4 / A-C)
7. Good communication and time management skills
8. Able to work well in a team and independently
