Join our Rhenus community to make an impact and grow alongside a team of passionate people who are dedicated to making a difference. empoweredbyyou Main Duties include, but not limited to: Create efficient daily and weekly transport plans for company vehicles and subcontractors Allocate drivers, vehicles, and routes in line with customer requirements and operational constraints Monitor live progress and adjust plans proactively to manage delays, breakdowns, or customer changes Ensure optimal vehicle fill, route efficiency, and cost control Act as the main point of contact for drivers during shifts Communicate clear instructions, updates, and expectations Liaise with warehouse, customer service, and external partners to ensure smooth loading anddelivery Ensure all plans comply with UK Working Time Directive, and O‑Licence requirements Monitor driver infringements and support corrective actions Maintain accurate records for audits and internal reporting Support the Transport Manager with incident reporting and investigations Provide timely updates to customers on delivery status, delays, or issues Build strong working relationships with key customer contacts Ensure service levels are met and exceeded wherever possible Use TMS/telematics systems to plan, track, and update transport activity Maintain accurate data for KPI reporting (OTIF, utilisation, empty running, etc.) Support cost control through efficient planning and reduction of waste What You Bring: Experience in transport planning within UK road freight Strong knowledge of Drivers’ Hours, WTD, and general transport compliance Ability to work under pressure and make quick, informed decisions Excellent communication skills with drivers, customers, and internal teams Competent with transport planning systems, telematics, and Microsoft Office Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network Experience with pallet networks, groupage, full loads, or multi‑drop operations Calm, organised, and solutions‑focused Confident decision‑maker with strong attention to detail Fair, consistent, and able to build trust with drivers Commercially aware and cost‑conscious Proactive, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities Advanced Excel skills Good communication skills GCSE Maths - Grade C or equivalent English - Grade C or equivalent
