About the Role
Influence: A secondment opportunity has arisen within the Procurement Services team to support the provision of excellent service to the University's hubs. The post holder will work closely with hub and department stakeholders to support their procurement needs, ensuring procurement activities are conducted effectively to achieve best value for money, risks are mitigated and procurement expenditure is compliant with the University's Financial Procedures.
The post holder will also work closely with the wider Procurement team to ensure that category strategies are supported and will undertake procurement exercises to deliver best value contracts and continuous improvement solutions.
Working closely with stakeholders, the post holder will review current supply chains and implement and advise on optimum procurement arrangements taking account of operational contexts, regulatory or funder compliance and applicable funder deadlines.
The post holder will advise non‑procurement staff operating within the University's hubs and departments through support, training and dissemination of best procurement practice.

About the Department
The University Finance Office supports business planning and innovation to maximise the financial resources available to the University and create the long‑term sustainable financial platform required for future growth. Finance staff across the University are networked as a professional community of expertise. You will be supported to continue your professional journey through access to Continuing Professional Development training opportunities, sector networks and regular Finance Office briefings.
The role is campus based; however, staff can opt to work under the Finance Office's current hybrid policy where a maximum of 40% of time (2 days per week for full‑time staff, typically Tuesday and Friday) can be worked remotely. This is subject to review and operational requirements. Whilst in the induction phase you'll be required to work 100% in the office. Further details are available on request or at interview stage.
