Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Entry level Salary: £X, with a potential to earn up to £Y, in sleep-in shifts.

We are currently seeking an experienced Residential Team Leader to join our services based in Carlisle.
North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established local provider of therapeutic residential care and education for boys aged X-Y. We aim to improve resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of all the young people we work with.
The role of a Team Leader is to create a purposeful, caring, therapeutic, learning environment for our young people, applying high professional standards of care and support for their social, emotional, behavioral needs, mental health, and learning difficulties.

Your ability to make key therapeutic interventions throughout the day will guide your team in adopting best practices. Recognizing trauma and its manifestations within a child, along with your knowledge of child development, will support their recovery, progression, and ability to lead a full, independent, healthy life.

* Ready to supervise and support the professional development of a small team?
* Willing and competent to lead shifts, making well-judged decisions in line with care plans?
* Knowledgeable in therapeutic interventions and experienced as a key worker?
* Able to deputize for the Registered Manager during holiday periods?
Main duties:
* Support and advise staff, managing the daily running of the team.
* Support and deputize for the deputy manager as required.
* Carry out supervisions and support for key workers.
* Manage monies for activities.
* Oversee daily needs of the children.
* Monitor staff duties.
* Participate in sleep-in duties as required.
* Develop programs to improve children’s progress and interaction.
* Link programs of study with recognized vocational qualifications.
* Work in a caring, nurturing manner, building trusting relationships.
* Support peer relationships and promote resilience and empathy.
* Encourage participation in educational, recreational, occupational, and social activities.
* Work as part of a team, providing support and encouragement.
* Work independently within all risk assessments, care, and emotional plans to meet therapeutic goals.
* Help children develop independent living skills.
* Prepare, implement, and review development programs and care plans.
* Induct new admissions, making them feel welcome.
* Assist in planning for young people’s future, balancing risks and opportunities.
* Help young people recognize and manage emotions.
* Use developmentally appropriate interventions for emotional regulation.
* Recognize vulnerabilities and behavioral choices.
* Liaise with outside partners, attend reviews and home visits as needed.
* Adhere to health & safety regulations.
* Act as keyworker for some young people, supporting their individual plans.
All Applicants must have:
* Understanding of issues faced by young people in care.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Residential Childcare Diploma, NVQ Level in Health & Social Care).
* Excellent communication and listening skills.
* Willingness to learn.
* Ability to work well in a small team.
* Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check (paid for by us).
* Experience with EBD, social/residential work, or youth work is advantageous.
* Full, clean UK driving license and flexibility to cover other homes.
