Staff Responsibility

All Desktop Support Engineers on site at Furness Academy Trust


Overview

You will be the focal point for the Trust, responsible for the successful management of service delivery.

By engaging with the Trust’s IT Strategy and collaborating with the Trust team and Head Office colleagues you will be responsible for the delivery of service on site.

On‑site engineers will report into you and you will be responsible for adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, day‑to‑day management and their ongoing development supported by the Engagement Manager.

Responsibilities

To include:

* Be the main day‑to‑day contact, responsible for all arising issues and their resolution.
* Responsible for meeting schedules, agendas and attending weekly and bi‑weekly Trust meetings.
* Support the Trust’s IT Strategy and be responsible for managing the on‑site team to deliver all elements that are included within the service agreement. Support in additional paid‑for projects, providing a progress report in Monthly Performance Update meetings.
* Adhere to the Trust’s IT policy and implement processes to work with the Trust’s IT strategy.


Service Delivery

* Responsible for managing and maintaining the Trust’s network system and coordinating the efficient operation of all computers and associated equipment across the Trust.
* Work closely with the Central Service Desk ensuring service delivery is executed on‑site, exceeding the Service Level Agreement.
* Provide advice and guidance to the Trust and School’s Senior Leadership Teams.
* Contribute to the delivery and resolution of tickets, supporting the rest of the on‑site team with high volumes and escalations.


Project Delivery

* Deliver all local projects in line with Virtue’s Standard Operating Procedures.
* Ensure that all local projects are delivered on time, maintain schedules and report progress in Monthly Performance Update meetings.


On‑site Team

* Supported by the Engagement Manager you are responsible for the on‑site Team, leading them and managing their day‑to‑day needs and issues.
* Provide guidance, motivation and inspiration to develop the on‑site team, escalating issues to the Engagement Manager where necessary.


Reporting

* Responsible for improving SLAs and keeping them above a minimum level.
* Responsible for CSAT performance levels.
* Responsible for the team’s schedule and communications of this to stakeholders.

Person Specification


Essential Qualifications

* IT qualification (e.g. Level 3 or 4 apprenticeship or equivalent)
* Significant relevant IT experience
* Experience of leading a team


Desirable Qualifications

* IT related degree
* Experience of working within the Education sector in an IT role
* Experience of working in a multi‑site environment


Essential Skills and Knowledge

* MS Office skills
* Windows Client and peripheral knowledge
* Active Directory administration skills
* Windows Server Configuration skills including mapped & Shared Drives
* Endpoint Protection administration
* Group Policy administration & troubleshooting
* Printer Troubleshooting
* Microsoft Intune
* Microsoft Entra


Desirable Skills and Knowledge

* Wireless Network administration
* Office 365 Administration & Management
* Experience of Azure
* Experience of cloud‑based portal administration
* Experience of Remote Access Solutions MS RDS
* Sophos MDM
* Apple products
* Network (switch) administration
