Job Title: Senior Residential Childcare Support Worker
Location: Barnsley
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Role Responsibilities
* Establish and maintain positive, trusting relationships with young people.
* Promote, safeguard, and protect the welfare of each young person in accordance with statutory guidance.
* Manage behaviour positively and assertively by working in line with individual care and risk management plans.
* Encourage the development of interests and healthy lifestyles by planning and participating in activities.
* Complete key domestic duties to ensure a clean, safe, and homely environment is maintained.
* Participate in the development, implementation, and review of care plans through team meetings and supervisions.
* Attend and advocate for the young person in care reviews and other professional meetings.
* Maintain clear, accurate, and timely records to meet all statutory and organisational requirements.
Candidate Requirements
* Essential experience supporting vulnerable young people.
* An understanding of and commitment to working on a 24/7 rota, including weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in duties.
* The ability to engage, motivate, and encourage young people.
* An empathetic nature combined with resilience and assertiveness.
* Strong oral and written communication skills for recording and advocacy.
* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a team player.
* Intermediate IT skills.
Salary & Compensation
Your salary will be based on your qualifications, with significant potential to increase earnings through sleep-in shifts.
* Unqualified: Base salary of £27,519.96 per annum. Total potential earnings of up to £32,919.96 with sleep-in shifts.
* Qualified (Level 5 Diploma or equivalent): Base salary of £28,128.36 per annum. Total potential earnings of up to £33,528.36 with sleep-in shifts.
* Sleep-in shifts are paid at a competitive rate of £45 per night.
