Shop Manager
Location: Sue Ryder Charity shop, 13 Institute Rd, Swanage BH19 1BX.
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week across 7 days.
Pay: £12.90 per hour – As of 1 April 2026 the rate of pay will be increasing to at least £12.71 per hour.

We are a Member of the Retail Team member in the larger shop network and look for managers who can inspire volunteers, drive sales and raise income for critical services.
About You
Are you an experienced proactive shop manager with the retail skills to lead a charity store? Your commercial awareness, leadership, and positive can‑do attitude are essential to deliver sales, meet deadlines and plan effectively.
Other Responsibilities
* Drive business, push sales and achieve targets as Shop Manager.
* Lead your team to deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers.
* Collaborate with the local community to generate donated stock and support sales.
* Recruit, train, and retain a volunteer team, providing leadership and guidance.
* Set high standards of merchandising, housekeeping, and health & safety for yourself and your team.
* Manage effective stock processes to keep the shop well merchandised with fresh, seasonal stock.
* Act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder, supporting in-store campaigns and national fundraising initiatives.
* Operate the Epos system for efficient sales and stock management.
Minimum Essential Criteria
* Customer Service Experience.
* People management experience (reviews/1:1/volunteer recruitment/team meetings).
* Experience with KPI and target setting.
* Strong IT skills (Admin, emails, instant messaging, video calls).
* Organisational Skills.
* Lone working experience.
Desirable Criteria
* High street retail or charity retail managerial experience.
* Health and Safety Knowledge.
* Minimal experience with Microsoft Office packages or equivalent.
* Background in high street retail, leisure, or hospitality.
* Experience with merchandising and stock rotation.
