Are you passionate about supporting learners to build the essential skills they need to thrive in work and life? We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic educator to teach Functional Skills and Employability programmes to 16–18-year-olds, adults, and apprentices —and help drive outstanding outcomes every step of the way! As am Employability and Functional Skills tutor, you’ll play a key role in delivering Employability Skills qualifications and Functional Skills in Maths and English at Levels 1 and 2, both face-to-face and remotely, engaging learners from all backgrounds. About the Role: In this exciting role, you will: Deliver engaging, high-impact learning and assessment tailored to individual needs, across both Employability and Functional Skills qualifications. Support learners aged 16–18 and 19 through dynamic, interactive sessions—whether in the classroom or online. Identify learner starting points through robust initial assessments, using this to create effective individual learning plans in collaboration with apprentices and employers. Collaborate with support staff and teaching teams to ensure all learning objectives are achieved. Liaise confidently with Area Heads and colleagues to monitor attendance, track progress, and support learner success. Plan and deliver learning activities that respond to student needs and curriculum goals—while managing assessments, keeping accurate records, and maintaining a productive, inspiring learning environment. Provide clear, timely feedback and maintain assessment records in line with the College’s policy and best practices. Contribute to the development of a modern, innovative curriculum, using online platforms and promoting the consistent use of digital tools by apprentices. Record and monitor learner progress through individual learning plans and effective course management systems. Offer pastoral support to vulnerable or low-motivation learners, using behaviour management strategies to create a respectful and supportive environment. Participate in cross-college quality assurance and standardisation activities to help raise teaching and learning standards. Essential Qualifications: Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4 or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O-Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalent. Level 5 Teaching Qualification / completing within 3 years of employment or 3 years of the first available course. Essential Experience: Experience of teaching employability skills Experience of working across many departments and communicating progress and outcomes effectively. Experience of working with a wide range of apprentices at different levels.
