This Dudley primary school is looking for someone calm, caring, and quietly confident to support a lovely Year 1 child with non-verbal autism. It’s about building trust, encouraging independence, and helping school feel like a place where they belong.
What your day looks like:
1. One-to-one support – Be their steady person in a busy classroom
2. Personal care – Support with dignity and kindness when needed
3. Communication support – Use PECS, Makaton or your own toolkit to help them express themselves
4. Small wins, big impact – Celebrate every step forward, no matter how small
5. Teamwork that works – Work hand-in-hand with the teacher, SENCO, and parents to build a plan that really supports
You’ll be a brilliant fit if you:
6. Have experience supporting children with autism
7. Are happy to assist with personal care (respectfully and sensitively)
8. Know your way around non-verbal communication
9. Stay patient, kind, and curious—even on the tricky days
10. Believe every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported at school
