We are now expanding into Children's Residential Care and opening a brand-new children's home made up of seven single‑occupancy flats in Birmingham.This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Children's Home Manager to help set up, shape, and lead a new service from the very beginning. Our home will support children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs. We aim to create a safe, caring, and homely environment where every child can thrive.The RoleAs the Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the full running of the home. You will not be doing this alone – the Registered Manager will receive strategic oversight, professional guidance, and reflective support from the Responsible Individual (RI), while maintaining full autonomy in day‑to‑day operational decisions and referral assessments. This ensures confident and accountable leadership within the home, with the reassurance of experienced support as the service becomes established.Your main duties will include:Leading the setup and Ofsted registration of the new homeEnsuring the home meets Children's Homes Regulations (2015) and Ofsted standardsSupporting and managing the staff team to deliver high‑quality careActing as the Designated Safeguarding Lead and ensuring children are always safeOverseeing care plans, behaviour support, and daily routinesCreating a warm, welcoming, and child‑centred environment across the seven single‑occupancy flatsManaging budgets, rotas, and resourcesWorking closely with senior leaders to build a positive cultureTaking part in the 24‑hour on‑call rotaThis role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading a team, solving problems, and building a high‑quality service from scratch.QualificationsLevel 3 Health & Social Care (or equivalent)Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care, or willingness to complete itWillingness to register with Ofsted as the Registered ManagerGood literacy and numeracy skillsExperience & KnowledgeExperience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in a children's homeStrong understanding of Children's Homes Regulations and Ofsted inspectionsExperience supporting children with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needsGood knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour support, and relevant legislationSkills & AbilitiesStrong leadership and communication skillsAbility to build and motivate a positive staff teamGood organisational skills and ability to manage a busy workloadConfident in supervising staff and managing performanceAble to remain calm and make sound decisions in challenging situationsComfortable using ICT systemsDignus Group BenefitsWe want our staff to feel valued, supported, and able to grow.
