PROJECT MANAGER - TECHNIQUEST ON TOUR
Are you a creative and organised project manager with a passion for science communication, outreach, and innovation?
Techniquest, Wales's much-loved science discovery centre, is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the development and launch of an exciting new initiative: Techniquest on Tour – a mobile science experience designed to engage schools and communities across Wales.
This is a rare opportunity to shape and deliver a high-profile, high-impact project from the ground up, working at the intersection of education, design, logistics, and engagement. You'll lead a collaborative effort to create an immersive mobile science environment that brings hands-on, inspiring science experiences to audiences who may not otherwise access them.
What the role involves:
* Leading the entire project lifecycle from concept to delivery – including planning, budgeting and risk assessment.
* Working closely with internal teams (education, marketing, operations) and external stakeholders (schools, community groups, sponsors) to shape a truly inclusive and accessible experience.
* Sourcing and overseeing the design and build of a mobile unit, including vehicle procurement, fit-out and compliance.
* Collaborating with designers, scientists and creative partners to develop high-quality, curriculum-linked content and interactive exhibits.
* Ensuring the project meets health & safety, roadworthiness and educational compliance standards.
* Developing operational manuals and training resources to support long-term use and sustainability.
* Acting as the central point of coordination, communication and problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.
We're looking for someone who:
* Has strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects on time and on budget.
* Is confident working with diverse stakeholders and partners – from educators and creatives to contractors and funders.
* Brings creative vision, alongside the ability to manage practical logistics, compliance, and technical detail.
* Has experience or interest in STEM, education, science communication, or exhibition development.
* Understands (or is willing to learn about) vehicle compliance, mobile unit design, and operational logistics.
* Is a clear communicator, problem-solver, and team player with excellent organisational skills.
* Holds a project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP) or has equivalent experience.
What we offer:
At Techniquest, you'll join a passionate and friendly team committed to making science engaging and accessible for everyone. You'll also benefit from:
* 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
* Sick pay scheme
* Death in service benefit
* Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
* Discount at on-site café
* Pension scheme
* Cycle to work scheme
* Free on-site parking
* Complimentary tickets to Techniquest and special events
* CPD and training opportunities
