About the Role
A supportive and inclusive primary school in Uxbridge, West London is seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join their SEN team. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about helping children with additional needs to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The SEN TA will work with pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), and learning difficulties. Support may be delivered on a one-to-one basis, in small intervention groups, or alongside class teachers in the classroom, depending on pupil needs.
The school emphasizes inclusive education, early intervention, and positive behaviour management, and values the contribution of every staff member in supporting children’s growth and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored academic and emotional support to pupils with SEN
* Assist teachers in implementing EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour management plans
* Collaborate with the SENCO and teaching staff to meet pupil needs
* Support pupils’ social, emotional, and communication development
* Promote positive behaviour using consistent, school-approved strategies
* Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual pupil needs
* Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times
* Encourage independence, confidence, and self-esteem
* Observe and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
* Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and pupil wellbeing is prioritised

Essential Requirements
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN
* Understanding of common SEN conditions and support strategies
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
* Right to work in the UK
Desirable (Not Essential)
* SEN or education-related qualifications
* Experience in specialist provisions or SEN units
* Team Teach or behaviour management training
* Background in education, psychology, care, or youth work
