Job Title: Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) – Generic Worker with Children’s Experience

Shift times: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
No guaranteed hours, but regular weekly shifts are likely

Role Overview: Lambeth Council is seeking to appoint an experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) who also possesses children’s social work experience. This is a unique and flexible opportunity to work as part of a dedicated team during out-of-hours shifts, responding to urgent and complex situations involving children and families.
Undertake AMHP duties in line with the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended)
Respond to emergency mental health assessments during allocated night shifts
Apply knowledge and experience in children’s safeguarding and family assessments
Liaise effectively with internal teams, police, health professionals, and emergency services
Qualified and Approved AMHP (registration required)
Previous experience in children’s social work (including statutory work)
Willingness to work flexible night shifts as part of a rota
Enhanced DBS and right to work in the UK
Strong understanding of safeguarding protocols for children and young people
Shifts are night-based (6 PM – 6 AM)
Supportive team environment with access to relevant training where appropriate
