Job Description for Aircraft Workshop Technician at British Airways
British Airways, the UK's flagship carrier, is seeking skilled Workshop Technicians to join our Aircraft Workshop Services team, supporting our Fleet Support and Powerplant Support Facilities. This role involves performing maintenance, repairs, and fabrication tasks, supporting on-wing activities, and contributing to our commitment to safety and excellence in aircraft maintenance.
Responsibilities include:
* Performing maintenance, repairs, and fabrication under supervision
* Supporting on-wing tasks at Heathrow, Gatwick, or outstations for BA AOG recovery
* Certifying defect rectifications and component changes as per approved data
* Conducting visual inspections and surveillance tasks within your scope of authorization
* Issuing Certificates of Release to Service
* Sharing knowledge and coaching team members
* Utilizing modern technologies for documentation and process support
Candidate Requirements:
* Experience in sheet metal fabrication and general workshop skills
* Ability to interpret engineering data and technical publications
* Recognized engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
* Experience in aircraft maintenance environment and familiarity with SAP and production support processes
* Good understanding of safety, quality, and environmental standards
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication skills
* Eligible to hold an Airside Pass (desirable)
Additional Information:
* Shift work may be required, including 4-on/4-off 12-hour shifts
