Hours: 8:15am – 4:15pm (30-minute unpaid break)
Pay: £100–£105 per day (PAYE) / £115–£120 per day (Umbrella)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing and inclusive mainstream primary school in Barnet.
This role is based within a specialist SEND classroom that supports a small group of up to 8 pupils in Year 1 and Year 2 who are not yet ready to access learning in a mainstream classroom. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping these children develop the skills, confidence, and independence they need to thrive both socially and academically.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
1. Proven experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within an early years or KS1 setting.
2. A strong understanding of de-escalation and positive behaviour management strategies.
3. Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
4. A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential.
5. Excellent teamwork and communication skills, working effectively alongside the class teacher and wider SEND team.
