Job Summary
University Hospitals of North Midlands is seeking a Paediatric Dietetic Assistant to join the team working alongside paediatric dietitians and the wider dietetic team. The role supports paediatric dietitians in in-patient acute settings and community locations, which may include children's outpatient areas, special school clinics, telephone reviews and the patients own home. Activities may involve reviewing established patients on enteral feeding, those on special diets and nutritional supplements, and assisting with weights using hoist/weighing equipment. You may visit schools to weigh, measure and record anthropometric data for children/young people and analyse food diaries/feeds using appropriate software in advance of dietetic consultation.

Job Responsibilities
* Act as the first point of contact for the Paediatric Dietetic Team, triaging calls and emails to the team, including home enteral feeding team mobiles; record details in Teams and add details to electronic patient records.
* Update electronic growth charts and anthropometric data.
* Coordinate outpatient room bookings and manage short notice appointment cancellations or re-scheduling in response to clinic changes.
* Prepare and send correspondence to GPs, health visitors, school nurses and families, including holiday and school-related letters and weight requests on behalf of the managing dietitian.
* Circulate supportive and educational materials to families via post/email on behalf of the Paediatric Dietetic Team.
* Arrange delivery of nutritional supplements and feeds via manufacturer sample service on behalf of the managing Paediatric Dietitian.
* Assist in data collection of the dietetic referral coding process, ensuring the referrals database is kept up to date.
* Maintain monthly statistics on patient contacts and submit required reports.

Qualifications
Essential
* General education to GCSE or equivalent; Grade C/Level 4 or above in Maths, English and Science.
* Minimum level of study BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in a health/social care or science subject or equivalent experience.
* Able to demonstrate good literacy and numeracy.
Desirable
* Previous experience as a dietetic assistant or dietetic student clinical placement.
Skills and Experience
* Experience in working with people face to face and on the telephone.
* Good written communication.
* Interest in enhancing nutrition knowledge and experience.
* Interest in people, health, food, and hospital nutrition.
* Desirable: NHS experience; working with children/babies; clinical system knowledge (MEDWAY, Medisec, Iportal, dietary analysis packages); familiarity with feeding tubes and enteral feeding equipment.
Personal Qualities
* Able to travel within the local geographical area.
