Locum Consultant T&O Surgeon Hand and Wrist Surgery

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in Hand and Wrist Surgery to join our friendly and dynamic department at Musgrove Park Hospital. You will join a team of 22 consultants providing high quality elective and trauma care for the Somerset population.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will:
* Provide highquality elective and trauma Hand & Wrist surgery, including daycase and inpatient procedures.
* Participate in the general trauma rota (1:12 weekdays, 1:10 weekends), including posttake ward rounds, trauma meetings and followup fracture clinics.
* Deliver inpatient and outpatient orthopaedic services as part of a structured twoweek rolling job plan.
* Contribute to clinical audit, governance, quality improvement and departmental meetings.
* Support education and research activities within a wellestablished teaching environment.
* Provide leadership within the MDT and work collaboratively with colleagues across sites, including Yeovil District Hospital.
* Take responsibility for effective clinical administration and maintain high-quality electronic patient records.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration with licence to practise.
* On the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT/entry via CESR at interview date).
* Fellowship level training in Hand & Wrist surgery.
* Broad experience in Trauma & Orthopaedics with recent trauma exposure.
* Evidence of unsupervised hand and wrist surgical practice.
* Higher qualification in medical education or research experience.
