Mechanical Plant Fitter – Large Plant Equipment
* Location: Cardiff
* Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm
* Pay rate: £19.00 per hour

A great opportunity has become available for an experienced Mechanical Plant Fitter to join a well-established engineering operation specialising in large plant and heavy mechanical assemblies. This role suits someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and working on machinery that genuinely challenges your technical ability. Welding or basic fabrication experience is beneficial and supports a wide range of repair and overhaul tasks.
Key Responsibilities
* Stripping, inspecting and rebuilding heavy mechanical components
* Working on gearboxes, drivetrains and large mechanical assemblies
* Using overhead cranes, jibs and lifting equipment safely
* Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on plant equipment
* Diagnosing mechanical faults and completing high-quality repairs
* Reading and interpreting technical drawings and engineering documentation
* Ensuring all work is completed in line with safety procedures and quality standards
What We're Looking For
* Strong mechanical fitting background (plant, rail, HGV, industrial, marine or similar)
* Experience working with heavy components and lifting equipment
* Confident with mechanical fault-finding and diagnostics
* Welding or fabrication experience is beneficial
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Good understanding of health & safety in an engineering environment
* Reliable, proactive and keen to develop new skills
