Teaching Assistant – SEND Support
Location: Bristol (BS5)
Pay: £13.69 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Contract: Temporary with potential to become permanent
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient full-time Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in central Bristol. The school features a dedicated SEND Resource Base and a Forest School, providing a nurturing environment for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to learn and grow through personalised and nature-based experiences.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEND, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
2. Foster a calm, consistent, and engaging learning environment
3. Collaborate closely with teaching staff and support teams
4. Respond proactively to behavioural needs with empathy and care
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience working with children with SEND (especially ASD) is highly desirable
* Patient, adaptable, and committed to inclusive education
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Confidence in managing challenging behaviours constructively
Additional Experience
Experience in nurseries, youth clubs, residential/care homes, or colleges, or personal experience supporting someone with SEND, or degrees in psychology, sociology, sport, drama, art, or music are advantageous.

* This is a temporary role with the possibility of permanent employment for the right candidate
