Planner Trawsfynydd Site (minimum 3 days per week on site/office) Contract 12 month contract initially Can work outside IR35 Role Purpose Our client is seeking an experienced Planner to support the delivery of the Trawsfynydd Nuclear Power Station Decommissioning Project. This is a key role within the project team, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop, manage, update, and report on integrated project programmes. Initially, the Planning Engineer will work alongside the Quantity Surveying team to cost-load the existing programme of works. Following programme acceptance, the role will transition to managing and integrating subcontractor programmes, ensuring accurate updates are captured within the overall project schedule and reported effectively. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain robust breakdown structures, quality criteria, product descriptions, and monitoring strategies. Capture, record, challenge, and test project assumptions to ensure programmes are realistic, achievable, and aligned with delivery objectives. Interface regularly with the Project Controls team to ensure alignment between programme progress and the project's financial position. Support the Project Manager in identifying opportunities to optimise delivery through resource smoothing, levelling, and rescheduling. Identify and communicate wider resource requirements to support effective project delivery. Ensure stakeholder requirements are clearly understood and appropriately addressed within planning and reporting arrangements. Provide expert advice on planning processes across the full project lifecycle, supporting continuous improvement, capability building, and best practice in planning and reporting. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential: Primavera P6 trained and experienced. Proven experience in building cost- and resource-loaded programmes. Strong understanding and application of Earned Value Analysis (EVA) as a reporting tool. Proactive approach with the confidence to challenge delivery teams, identify programme efficiencies, and propose mitigations. High level of numeracy with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong proficiency in MS Office applications. Desirable: Experience or understanding of estimating, scheduling, programming, and risk management tools. Background in Project Controls and/or Project Delivery, ideally within a highly regulated environment such as nuclear, infrastructure, or energy. Qualifications Essential: Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics. Desirable: HNC/HND, degree qualification, or demonstrable experience in a planning-related discipline. APMG International Project Planning and Control Practitioner (or equivalent). PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP).
