We are currently recruiting dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistants to work within secondary schools and specialist provisions across Huddersfield. The Role:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support to manage their behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing. You will play a key role in helping students develop positive relationships, improve classroom participation, and achieve their full potential.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing one-to-one and small group behavioural support
* Supporting students both inside and outside the classroom
* Implementing behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
* Building positive and trusting relationships with students
* Supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
* Assisting with conflict resolution and emotional regulation
* Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, SENCOs, and safeguarding staff
* Encouraging attendance, engagement, and positive attitudes towards learning
* Promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
✅ Strong behaviour management and communication skills
✅ A calm, patient, and resilient approach
✅ The ability to build positive relationships with young people
✅ Experience working with children or young people with behavioural or additional needs (desirable)
✅ A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
✅ The ability to remain professional in challenging situations
