Overview
Coventry Music are looking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic and passionate music educator to grow our string playing opportunities for children and young people across the city. This will involve a variety of teaching roles and supporting our tutor team throughout Coventry. You will be expected to deliver music provision for 20 hours per week in Coventry schools and music centres, focusing on building string tuition and developing new pathways for string players. You will also lead central string groups that rehearse outside of school hours and work with regional groups across the hub area. The post is funded until Summer 2027 and will be reviewed for continuation into Autumn 2027 and beyond. Flexible working arrangements, including part‑time, are possible. Note: Appointment is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires a satisfactory DBS check. All candidates must have the right to work in the UK and sponsorship is not offered.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver music provision for 20 hours per week across schools and music centres.
* Develop and extend string tuition and new pathways for string players.
* Lead central string groups rehearsing out of school hours and support regional groups.
* Generate relationships with schools and stakeholders to expand music education delivery.
* Co‑ordinate projects and events inside and outside the school day, including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experienced in music education with a specialism in string playing and teaching.
* Knowledgeable of a music education hub and capable of fostering collaboration.
* Confident to teach whole class groups in instrumental and curriculum lessons, including SEND specific work.
* Flexible to work evenings and weekends throughout the year.
Commitments and Conditions
Full‑time position (20 hours per week). Appointment exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires a satisfactory DBS check. All candidates must have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not offered.

Following recommendations from Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), an additional pre‑employment check will be conducted with effect 1 September 2022.
