We are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Level 3 to support teachers by developing and delivering learning activities under supervision. The role includes working with pupils in mainstream settings to provide interventions that improve behaviour and support learning.
The HLTA will support teachers and deliver learning/intervention activities for individuals and groups, including small groups or whole classes. The role significantly contributes to the educational, personal, and social development of pupils, enhancing learning under guidance from colleagues such as the Principal, SENCO, and class teachers.
You will help students access the curriculum, engage with learning, and reach their potential using strategies developed through your experience, knowledge, and skills. The role aims to impact student attainment and well-being, with benefits extending beyond individual students to the wider school community.
This position suits an experienced TA seeking career progression or a current HLTA looking for a new role or setting.
About you:
* Understanding of classroom roles and how TAs support student learning
* Commitment to relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in supporting teaching and learning, first aid)
* Ability to engage students and manage behaviour in small groups or one-to-one
* Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy and active listening
* Good planning and organisational skills for learning activities and materials
* Interest in working with children and commitment to inclusion

The Sky Academy is a special school for students in years 5-11 with EHCPs supporting SEMH and SCL needs. Located in Taunton, it serves students from across Somerset. The school offers a targeted curriculum focusing on literacy, numeracy, PSHCE, PE, and other subjects, aiming to prepare students for adulthood and post-16 opportunities.
