Grading and Job Evaluation Advisor
Location: National (Minimum 3 days per week in your local DEFRA office)
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Pay Rate: £18.00 per hour
Contract: Temporary Assignment (6 Months)

We are recruiting on behalf of our public sector client, DEFRA, for a Grading and Job Evaluation Advisor to join their team on a temporary six-month assignment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and detail-oriented individual to support the delivery of fair, consistent and high-quality grading and job evaluation outcomes across the organisation.
Working within a busy and collaborative environment, you will provide advice and guidance on grading and job evaluation matters, support managers and HR colleagues, and ensure that role information is assessed accurately and consistently.
The Role
As a Grading and Job Evaluation Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting the grading process from start to finish. You will quality assure job submissions, support grading panels, provide feedback to stakeholders and ensure all activity is managed efficiently and to a high standard.
This is a fast-paced role that requires strong attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide advice and guidance on grading and job evaluation processes.
* Support managers and HR colleagues in developing clear and accurate role descriptions.
* Quality assure job evaluation submissions and provide constructive feedback where required.
* Support and facilitate grading panels, ensuring outcomes are evidence-based and consistent.
* Manage and track a pipeline of grading activity, ensuring work is completed within agreed timescales.
* Respond to queries and provide practical solutions to grading and evaluation issues.
* Analyse data and identify trends to support continuous improvement initiatives.
* Create and maintain guidance documents, tools and resources.
* Build effective relationships with stakeholders and confidently challenge where improvements are needed.
* Manage shared mailboxes and maintain accurate records.
* Transfer and maintain data within spreadsheets and internal systems.

* Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including transferring and maintaining data within spreadsheets.
* Experience managing shared mailboxes and prioritising workloads.
* A methodical approach to work and problem solving.
* Experience quality assuring work, comparing documents and providing feedback.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* The ability to learn new processes and systems quickly.
* A positive attitude towards training and continuous development.
Desirable Experience
* Previous experience using SharePoint.
* Experience working within job evaluation, grading, HR or a similar administrative environment.
* Experience analysing data and producing reports.
